Duck Soup!

No, we don't eat duck, and this isn't a food related post. I just really like The Marx Brothers and enjoyed watching the movie with my kids. When deciding on a title for this post, it iwas the first thing to come to mind. The thing is one of our ducks has five new cute little ducklings, and I wanted to share some pictures. We had made a little pond for our ducks a while back and our duck decided to take her duckling out for a splash. It was so cute, that I had to run and get my camera.

Moshiach's Comming

My mind and heart are consumed daily with thoughts of G_D's beloved people.  I pray for those yearning for the coming of Moshiach and His redemption. The L-rd's coming is near and I pray with all my heart for those that truly desire to know Him, and not just know about Him. I know there are many people out there searching and praying daily with all their heart, desiring the coming of Moshiach. Surely the L-rd hasn't forgotten them, and will soon grant them the desire of their hearts.  Join me in prayer for this purpose and please comment with any Scripture or other writings concerning the awaited one, the one Israel longs for.

Bat Mitzvah Celebration

This post will be a short one since I'm ready to go to bed. I'm out of the house most of the week lately and haven't the time to write new posts. This post however, I did not want to put off. This past Shabbat we celebrated my daughter's Bat Mitzvah with our congregation, Zion. It was a memorable occasion as we were blessed to be surrounded by both friends and family. We didn't have much time to prepare due to the fact it wasn't during my daughter's birthday. Actually she talked to our Rabbi and planned it around three weeks ago. I drove her to Rabbi's on three weekends to talk and prepare for her portion. Two days before the big day I was told about a dance my nephew was preparing for this special day. He also asked my kids and me to join them in the dance. Now I'm not that great a dancer to begin with, but I think that I could have done somewhat better if I'd have had a little more time to practice (This you will see in the video posted).
Notwithstanding the short time of preparation and all, we had a joyful and unforgettable time rejoicing with our friends and family. We took many pictures and videos although the whole service is available to be viewed at Zion's website. The part I most enjoyed was hearing Chavah talking about how now she perceived and embraced Hashem and His Word. It actually brought tears to my face. There is just so much gratitude in my heart for Hashem's faithfulness, Baruch HaShem.

Birkat Hamazon

Some time ago I took it upon myself to teach my kids the Birkat Hamazon. The Birkat Hamazon, is basically the blessing said after meals. This blessing is based on Deuteronomy 8:10 "When you have eaten and are satisfied, you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He gave you". Even though this blessing can be read, it is customary to sing it aloud on Shabbat and other special occasions. Well, I had wanted nothing more than to learn to sing it since long ago, but didn't know the melody; until recently that I found a podcast with the blessing which I now have in my ipod. It's so convenient learning it this way because it gives me the freedom to listen at any time I choose. On Friday however, I found this video that I just loved. Here is a way that I think would be perfect for the kids to learn. I'm posting the video here should anyone want to learn it.
